Aims, contents and method of the course

Title of Bachelor's course: "Thinking the political in the Anthropocene: new problems, categories and methodological strategies from Latin America"

Objective: Develop the fundamental concepts with which to address the political in contemporary times from a non-state-centric perspective, with a focus on the analysis of power relations and forms of subjectivation, and also open to empirical work.

Contents: Introduction to governmentality studies, concepts and methods of the processualist current of the anthropology of politics, the contributions of critical geography. It will be brought together in order to reconstruct an initial innovative approach to thinking about politics from Latin America.

Assessment and permitted materials

Method: expository classes and practical activities to relate concepts and empirical cases from Latin America.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Assesment: theoretical and case analysis written exam. Students must prove that they understand the conceptual approaches worked and are able to use them to reflect on the Latin American political phenomena. Attendance is required in all course units.
