Aims, contents and method of the course
Introduction to basic theoretical strands of comparative politics
Assessment and permitted materials
* four assignments to be handed in duly during the semester (altogether 40%)* a final short paper in which an approach that was disscussed in the lecture has to be applied (20%)* short oral presentation (about 5 minutes, everyone has to present once during the semester) (20%)* discussion group (20% of grade)
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
to give insights to different approaches to the field of comparative politics.
Examination topics
students will cover the material in several ways: reading and writing before the class, discussion in class, one short presentation and once fulfilling the role of a "discussant"; general introductions and guidance through the course will be given by the instructor.
