Die Frage, warum "Geschichte Israels" in einer theologischen Fakultät notwendig ist, wird behandelt. Dem Problem, was "Tatsachen" sind, wird nachgegangen, wobei Quellen, Selektion und Interpretation, Logik und Wahrheit in der Historiographie besondere Beachtung bekommen. In dem Zusammenhang wird dem Umstand Rechnung getragen, daß ein Großteil des Quellenmaterials auch Heilige Schrift ist.
