Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Chatbots, AI influencers, Social Media. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other media innovations have long found their way into everyday life. While AI brings numerous advantages such as task automation and efficient information processing, the use and reception of AI-generated or curated content also come with many risks and dangers. Examples include stereotypes and biases in AI-generated content, political polarization on social media platforms, or misinformation through so-called deepfakes (AI-generated fake videos). This lecture deals with theoretical approaches, concepts, and phenomena related to media innovation, covering the impact of media innovations on the levels of media systems and structures, media actors and formats, as well as media users.
