Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In sociology the term globalization is employed in different ways: e.g. simply as a way to speak about societal change; as a concept for analyzing process of de-nationalization and emerging new economic and political actors; or for deciphering the processes of cultural hybridization, uprising social movements, and local resistances. The lecture aims to developing a critical perspective of what is called 'Sociology of Globalization', by giving an overview on main theoretical trends, and by focusing on exemplary societal transformations, each of them linked with fundamental theoretical and methodological problems and challenges.
