Aims, contents and method of the course

The course will discuss practices of scientific knowledge production within various perspectives of the social studies of science. It will address topics such as the specific locales of scientific work and their respective affordances (the laboratory, field sites, libraries, etc.), the sociotechnical entanglements of scholars and their research infrastructures, novel practices that have emerged with the computer (e.g. computer simulation, disembedded collaboration), the different forms of knowledge production ranging from conceptual work to experimental explorations.
