Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In the reading seminar, basic concepts of feminist, poststructuralist theory and politics will be traced and updated in prepared, collective reading along the books 'When the gesture becomes an event' and 'Notes on a performative theory of assembly'. Collectives and their regained presence in public space as well as in artistic contexts will be analyzed.
The question of Butler's significance and the reasons for her sometimes bitter criticism will also be examined.
