Aims, contents and method of the course

In this course we will be reading and discussing classical vs. post/anti-colonial and feminist economics texts related to 11 topics of interest to development economics
property
individual
family
population and biopolitics
consumption
capabilities
money
anarchism and utopia
colonies
commons
original accumulation

In this course we will practise to
• read and deconstruct difficult material
• conduct meaningful discussions utilizing texts of diffrent disciplinary backgrounds
• apply theory to contemporary discoursive/practical examples
• contextualize and recognize arguments in political discourses related to the 11 key topics
• compose short essays connecting different theories and arguments
• work in teams to utilize combined knowledge and abilities to present, engage and critically apply the literature
• work together to practice and solidify the learnings in a term paper

Assessment and permitted materials

Group and individual presentations.
With a focus on common interaction of the course participants, working together in small groups.
Homework assignements.
Final course paper.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Participants must do a presentation, homework assignments and a final paper.
