Aims, contents and method of the course

The question of the good life.
Feminist theological and liberation theological perspectives vs. Donna Haraway.

„We are obligated to live with those we never chose, and to
endeavor to produce a political world in which co-habitation on the basis of equality
becomes thinkable and livable“ (Judith Butler)

Religions, religious affiliation and practices have been increasing in visibility and thus in importance in the public sphere for some time now, according to the thesis of the lecture series "Gender Studies: Gender, Religion, Transformation". How this gain in significance from a feminist critical position is to be assessed is the starting point of the discussion in this seminar. Starting from this question and against the background of the radically contrasting discussions of Donna Haraway, the question of the good life is raised.
What can feminist-theological or liberation-theological currents for liberation from exploitation, deprivation of rights and oppression, contribute to the question of the good life for all?
Donna Haraway explores the practices of the good life and dying on an extremely damaged planet. Her poetic language in combination with her diverse scientific, materialistic, situated knowledge is used in the seminar to practice a scientific practice that questions the limits of epistemes as well as the rigidity of identitarian closed-ended fantasies.
Methods: Lecture elements, group work, text reading
Targets: Acquisition of the competence of dealing with approaches of feminist criticism of religion and specific specialist texts, collective reading, examination of related social-theoretical and feminist aspects.
Target group: students of all subjects
