Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The course deals with analyses of the current gender order that are oriented towards psychoanalytical social theory. Here, gender is conceptualised as sexuation or sexual difference and examined in close relation to transformation processes at the level of subject and society. Two recently published anthologies offer German-speaking readers an insight into important contributions to this international theoretical perspective. This course focuses on Volume 2 Sexual Difference in Post-Oedipal Society, whose lines of argumentation we will explore in guided readings, text reviews and written commentaries. We will also refer to Volume 1 (Post-Oedipal Society) and supplementary readings at times. The aim of the course is to gain an understanding of the key concepts and tools of this horizon of thought, especially the theory of power and ideology that is used here to analyse the current gender order.
