Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The main objective of the seminar is to introduce the core aspects necessary for conducting scientific research on one of the longest-running debates in the field of gender and development: Gender, Work, and Social Transformation. The seminar is focused on grounding and writing qualitative research. It will consist of a mix of participatory lectures, tutorials, and workshops, with an emphasis on data analysis techniques and guidance on how to write up findings based on fieldwork or desk-based research. The course includes the following modules:
Data Collection
Data Analysis and Findings
Grounding and Writing Qualitative Research
Throughout the course, students will engage with and critically reflect on the existing literature. By participating in the seminar, they are expected to gain a clear understanding of research tools, data collection and analysis, the challenges of working with qualitative data, and how to present their findings. They will also receive a basic introduction to the use of qualitative data analysis software.
