Aims, contents and method of the course

Update 24.09.2021

The FP is to examine the diverse stakeholder perspectives from international organizations to transnational NGOs to activist networks with regard to the question: "How can climate, nature and species protection be reconciled with the legitimate interests of local and indigenous communities. The current context is the planned COP 15 UN Biodiversity Conference 2021 in Kunming, China. The focus is on how far the interests of indigenous and other local communities are affected by the EU's 30 to 2030 initiative.
The reference framework is the plan to place at least 30% of the earth (water and land) under "an effective system of protected areas" by 2030. Cf. According to a manifesto of various human rights NGOs: "NGO concerns over the proposed 30% target for protected areas and absence of safeguards for Indigenous Peoples and local communities".
The aim of the FP is to produce a short film (4-7 min.) in groups of up to 3 participants. The template would be science magazine contributions such as those broadcasted by Nano (3Sat), but also blog-capable.
It is planned, subject to availability, Dr. Harald Pokieser, one of the most renowned nature filmmakers beyond the borders of Austria (cooperations with National Geographic, BBC etc.) for an appointment. He has already held highly successful courses at our institute on several occasions and can pass on invaluable practical information on the design of audio-visual publications.
