Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The methodological seminar is intended as preparation of the FP (therefore, there will be overlaps in the interviews). The focus is on the training of experts and activist interviews on issues of nature-, biodiversity-, and climate protection, in the context of participatory forms of governance that include local communities. Relevant topics are: Species Protection, Biodiversity and Climate Change, as well as participatory governance modes concerning environmental protection. Therefore, the legal anthropological framework of statutes, constitutional law, and governance sources such as development plans is considered prerequisite.

All interviews should be recorded with the informed consent of participants allowing for spaces of collaborative co-creation, ideally leading to sustainable long(er) term engagement (e.g., evolving into a master’s thesis or other forms of continued cooperation). Audio-visual methods will be emphasized with an intention to evolve into co-authored open-source publications.

The fieldschool will take place on the Seychelles from 3.5. to 24.5.2032

The costs of the fieldschool (without meals and according to previous experience) amount to about EUR 1,900. 40% of these costs will be refunded by the University of Vienna.
