Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture will give an introduction to the history of mathematics and logics. We will cover their beginnings in Egypt and Mesopotamia, Greek mathematics of the Hellenistic period, Islamic and European medieval mathematics, and mathematics at the beginning of the modern age. Assessment and permitted materials

Written exam after the end of the semester. The only permitted aids are ruler and compass (i.e., pocket calculators are not permitted).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The grade is determined by the number of points achieved at the exam. To pass the exam at least half the attainable points have to be achieved.

Examination topics

Subject of the exam is the material covered in the lectures.
