Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In the two Bachelor Seminars, a bachelor thesis each must be written and presented in a talk. Normally, the Bachelor Seminars will be attended by students of the 5th respectively 6th semester. Consequently, this "session" of the Bachelor Seminar is mainly thought for students who started in the Wintersemester 2008/09.

The Bachelor Seminar is offered in two groups. However, at the beginning there will be joint meetings for all students. Subsequently, mainly individual discussions between the student and her/his advisor will take place. In the second half of the semester, the talks of the students will be scheduled. Sufficiently many "teachers" and students must be present during the talks.

The active participation in the discussions of contributions of other students is a vital part of the Bachelor Seminar. The detailed planning of this phase of the Bachelor Seminar will only be done during the semester.

Concerning the requirements to obtain a grade for the Bachelor Seminar 2: A written thesis of approximately 25, which must be presented to the other participants of the seminar in a talk of 45 minutes. The topics can - in principle - be chosen from all fields of mathematics. In particular, proposals by students are very welcome.

In practice, the topics are fixed during discussions between students and advisors.
