Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

We will discuss Artin's solution to Hilbert's 17th problem and will prove the Positivstellensatz. We will then apply the result to gain global optimality conditions for polynomial optimization problems. Afterwards, we will discuss algrebraic approaches to solving polynomial optimization problems
The course will be taught online due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Assessment and permitted materials

Oral exam or online written exam.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Positive exam after the end of the lecture course.

Examination topics

The topics and proofs presented in the lecture course.

Reading list

Will be presented in the first course.
