Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The seminar is aimed to give a deeper understanding of Mapping class group of compact surfaces which is the
group of self-homeomrphisms of the surface up to isotopy.

The form of the seminar will be a reading course, so the lectures will be student-presentations on various parts of the topic.

Assessment and permitted materials

Students are required to give presentations, and their grade will be based on that and their participation on the other parts of the seminar.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The main assessment criteria is the presentation, but for the smooth running of the seminar active participation is also valued.
