Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course is the continuation of the lecture course "Numerical Mathematics I" from the bachelor program. The following subjects will be presented: numerics of eigenvalues problems , iterative methods for large sparse linear systems, nonlinear systems of equations, and partial differential equations, and additional material including machine learning and numerical low-rank tensor methods.

Assessment and permitted materials

written or oral exam after the end of the course.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Minimum (prior) requirements: Basic knowledge of numerical methods / analysis on bachelor level.
Assessment criteria: Oral exam assessing the topics presented in the lecture.

Examination topics

All subjects presented in the lecture course, including all definitions, lemmas, propositions, theorems and their proofs. In addition, the ability to apply the presented results will be assessed using example problems.

Reading list

will be presented in the first lecture
