Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Selected problems, applications and examples in coordination with the lecture: stability of first order equations, systems of second and third order: oscillations (Van der Pol), chaos (Lorenz),
systems of higher order: invariant manifolds.

Assessment and permitted materials

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Solving of simple exercises and developing of a feeling
for the considered model-equations.

Examination topics

The methods of the lecture are deepened using analysis as well as computer-simulations: Phase portraits, linearization, Poincare-Bendixon
theory, perturbation methods, bifurcation theory.
