Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Possible topics:
.) partial differential equations and asymptotic analysis
(derivation of models and understanding of model hierarchies)
.) Schrödinger equation, relativistic quantum mechanics
.) (quantum) kinetic equations (classical gas dynamics, Boltzmannequation)
.) (quantum) hydrodynamics, macroscopic models
.) semiconductor modeling: drift-diffusion models, energy transport, ...

Assessment and permitted materials

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

This seminar offers the possibility to independently cover a selected
smaller problem of applied mathematics. Mathematical problems from
physics or technical applications like semiconductors can be considered.
The possible content includes mathematical analysis as well as numerical
analysis of relevant methods. Within certain restrictions, also topics
freely selected by students can be treated.

Examination topics

Each participant independently develops a selected topic. An elaborate
in writing is compulsory, an oral presentation is optional.
