Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture course is concerned with numerical methods for the solution of various problems from linear algebra. We will start with problems for dense matrices, like the computation of eigenvalues and eigenvectors in the unsymmetric case, generalized eigenvalues and eigenvectors, singular values and singular vectors.
Thereafter, we will focus on iterative methods and direct algorithms for sparse matrices.

Prerequisites are Analysis, Linear Algebra, Numerical Analysis 1-2.
