"Representation theory of finite groups" from the winter term. Our aim is- to study the representations of some finite groups. This will afford an opportunity to becoome acquainted with fundamental techniques such as
induction and restriction of representations. We want to start with the groups GL(2,F_p), where F_p is the finite field of order p.- to cover some selected topics such as Burnisdes theorem, which asserts that any group of order p^aq^b is solvable or Frobenius complements in
finite groups. We will only assume very basic knowledge of the representation theory of finite groups.
