260003 UE Exercises for Scientific Computing (2019S)

The topics of the corresponding lecture "Scientific Computing" are applied in exercises: systems of linear equations, error and convergence analysis, regression analysis, solution of nonlinear equations, linear eigenvalue problems, interpolation, numerical differentiation, numerical integration, ordinary differential equations, partial differential equations.

Students program and visualize the exercises in SCILAB.

There are a total of 13 sessions as specified in Moodle. Students are encouraged to read the SCILAB tutorial before the first class (March 6), and are required to install the program on their own laptops prior to it. Students are required to bring their own laptops for all classes.

UNEXCUSED ABSENCE from the FIRST SESSION (March 6) will lead to immediate and automatic deregistration!

The course is organized as follows (detailed dates in MOODLE):
-In the first class students learn the basics of SCILAB.
-The second class, and every second class after that, will be a hands-on session where students work on the assigned exercises and can ask questions to teaching assistant and tutor.
-The third class, and every second class after that, will be an assessment class (see below).
