Aims, contents and method of the course

Quantization of free fields - the external field problem;
Minkowski-Euclidian-OS positivity;
2D-QFT - constructive approach - triviality of Phi to the power of 4 theory ;
Perturbative Renormalization - Renormalization Group;
Noncommutative Quantum Field Theory, noncommutative geometry

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Starting from simple models we obtain an understanding of quantum field theory through application of the renormalization group ideas to complicated noncommutative models.

Examination topics

The renormalization group method allows to integrate out successively degrees of freedom. Renormalizability allows to restrict models.
