Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The goal of the VU is to obtain a deeper understanding of concepts and methods of quantization. We will discuss in particular the relation between classical and quantum mechanics, but also modern applications in the context of noncommutative geometry and matrix models in the context of string theory
Assessment and permitted materials
There will be a number of homework problems during the semester, which must be uploaded online (via Moodle), and discussed and solved at the blackboard by the students.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
requirements: solid background in analysis and linear algebra, and quantum mechanics. Some previous exposure to differential geometry (e.g. a course on relativity) is helpful but not required.Each correctly solved problem provides up to 3 points. The grade will be based on the points acquired from the homework problems as well as the written test (60 % homework, 40 % final test).
