Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture course showcases the research pursued at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Vienna. The faculty members will provide an introduction into the scientific background, the research questions and methods of the field, as well as into recent results of their research groups. The language of communication is English and/or German.

Assessment and permitted materials

Attendance, plus active participation in discussions.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Grade 1: highly regular participation (at most one missed meeting)
Grade 2: regular participation (at most two missed meetings)
Grade 3: adequate participation (at most three missed meetings)
Grade 4: minimal participation (at most four missed sessions)

Very actively asking questions may raise the grade by one point.

Examination topics

The basic physical concepts and research methods in the respective research areas of the speakers.
