Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Introduction to non-perturbative effects in field theory. The goal is to understand, among others, the following phenomena: symmetry breaking, solitons, magnetic monopoles, instantons, chiral anomaly (if time permits). The basic concepts will be explained in simple examples. Prior knowledge of quantum field theory is useful, but not required.

Assessment and permitted materials

weekly homewok exercises: hand in via moodle

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

to pass the course: more than 50% of the points for the homework exercises

Examination topics

contents of the lecture course and application in examples

Reading list
