Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Introduction to concepts and realizations of experimental quantum optics (Delic) and quantum information processing (Walther).
In Quantum Optics we will focus on the interaction of light and matter, and how this allows to prepare quantum states of matter.
In Quantum Information we will focus on concepts, algorithms and experimental realizations in photon-based quantum information processing.

Assessment and permitted materials

Experimental estimates and concepts, research paper summaries.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Weekly problem sets will be posted, and every student must present at least one solution in front of the class. A 10-minute test at the beginning of each exercise will help you stay on track. The content of these mini tests will be taken from the previous lectures and problem set.

Otherwise, the exercises are meant to be your training and learning field. Use them as interactively as you can.

Examination topics

The lecture content of the previous week is recapitulated and graded in a 10 min online test at the beginning of each exercise.
