Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
During this lab course, two detailed experiments in the field of Solid State Physics will be conducted using modern research equipment. These examples will cover the synthesis of selected solids with reduced dimensionality, such as graphen, nanotubes, and thin films, their characterization with microscopic (scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy) and spectroscopic methods (Raman scattering, angle-resolved photoemission). Further, computer-based experiments (molecular dynamics) are planned within the lab course. A successful participation in the seminar low-dimensional solids (preferably during the same semester) is expected as a prerequisite. As part of this lab the basic knowledge for a bachelor thesis can be acquired and a thesis can be extended from the lab course topics.
