Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Energy is one of physics central concepts which is of significant importance in particularly in thermodynamics as well as in daily life and in society. In the course, the key concepts of thermodynamics with particular consideration of the energy concept will be developped and learning difficulties due to students’preconcets will be discussed. Based on this background lesson sequences with regard to the current Austrian curricula will be developed with special consideration of an appropriate methodological design. Upon this fundament a learning environment will be designed, tested and evaluated with students from a Viennese Grammar School.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Discussing results of pedagogical content research related to teaching thermodynamics and energy, developing, probing and evaluating learning material in respect to research results.

Examination topics

Presentations, discussions, interviewing pupils on their ideas about the concept of energy, observing pupils' learning processes.
