Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This lecture provides an introduction to low-dimensional solids. It covers physics of molecular nanostructures such as fullerenes, carbon nanotubes and graphene. It also covers examples of spectroscopic and microscopic research from materials characterization to studies of physical properties of low-dimensional solids.
Assessment and permitted materials
The oral final examination is scheduled individually at the end of the semester.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The oral examination will focus on assessing the students' understanding of the physical principles and phenomena behind both microscopy and spectroscopy. Instead of derivations of complex formulas, more important is to understand and explain what is being described, and how this can be used for studying the properties of materials.
Examination topics
The course material in its entirety will be included.
Reading list
Most of the material will be provided during the digital lectures and later uploaded to moodle.Physical Properties of Carbon Nanotubes
