Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

These are the online exercise sessions of the Course 260038 VO Physik der kondensierten Materie (WS2020) and they form one unit with the former. The homework sets will be distributed weekly and are related to the topics covered in the online lecture.

Students organized in small groups have the opportunity to discuss the homework exercises with their colleagues via a conference platform in Moodle during the whole week before the weekly online conference session. Moodle groups will be created automatically after all students are registered for the course. Access to the conference platform for discussion is limited to students forming one group. All students have to upload their calculated exercises to Moodle one day before each online conference session. The presentation of the exercises is given by the students during the live online course session each Thursday.

The PUE is an examination-immanent course and serves as preparation for the module exam. Registration for the PUE is not mandatory but recommended.

Assessment and permitted materials

All students enrolled after the cancellation deadline will be graded in accordance with PUE criteria as stated below.
The grade of the PUE is NOT included in the grade of the module examination.
The certificate required for the module (VO + PUE) is received by the completion of the module examination.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

For grading participation in the live online course sessions, number of calculated and uploaded exercises and participation in form of presentations and discussions are considered. In order to attain a positive grade students have to
- participate at least 70% of the live online course sessions
- calculate and upload at least 50% of the exercises and
- give in the live online class at least two presentations on exercises that are completed.

Examination topics

The subject is associated with the topics of the lecture „Physik der kondensierten Materie“ (260038).
