Aims, contents and method of the course

Within the scope of this lecture discussion groups and talks to different subjects of the risk sciences are organised.Particularly "collective" risks, they the human society are picked out as a central theme, above all, risks of the type "Low probability - high consequences", under it again in the bigger parts or than whole in contrast to "individual risks" which concern single persons or groupings (like companies) just as questions of the evaluation. To the discussion stands also, to what extent certain risk kinds form connections in a kind of hierarchy, depend each other or cause each other: For example, the increase of numerous risks with which far-reaching negative consequences are to be feared, like such of physical disasters and technology disasters, kind decrease, climate change, epidemics, hunger, war and terror on the one hand, as well as the increase of the earth population, the increase of the resource lack and the increase of the distribution injustice, on the other hand.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Grasping of risks of the above kind requires special methods of the contact with complicated systems how on the basis of Frederic Vesters is made to bio cybernetic mental beginning and sensitivity model plausible. The other purposes which are stimulated within the scope of this seminar row are:
1) Creation of an interdisciplinary forum for students to the discussion of topical subjects and trend of the risk sciences.
2) Establishment of an informal net in risk subjects of interested parties from the most different disciplines.
