Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture is to serve students of natural sciences who want to gain an insight into environmental problems and are interested in learning about interdisciplinary approaches for recording and overcoming them.
In particular the natural resource throughput (taking energy and materials with low entropy out of nature and returning them to nature in the state of high entropy) is to be reduced to a sustainable level rapidly, if the natural foundation of human life is to be preserved. The physical potential of such a reduction is shown, as well as the economic instruments, which are necessary to make the reduction profitable.

Assessment and permitted materials

Oral examination

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

To mediate the understanding of environmental processes on a scientific basis. The students shall be able to realise and evaluate the origin of actual problems.

Examination topics

Lecture with illustrations from different media sources.
