Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This series of talks will tackle very fundamental questions in modern quantum theory and relate them to some of the most fundamental questions in particle physics. For example it will be shown that a Bell inequality, detecting the nonlocality of quantum mechanics, is related to the observed tiny difference between matter and antimatter, the so called CP violation explored in particle physics. Herewith two different powerful concepts in physics, entanglement or its manifestation and symmetry, become surprisingly related. Further I will discuss decoherence models, entanglement measures, quantum marking and eraser procedures, i.e. the kaonic quantum eraser (which will be experimentally realized by the KLOE collaboration) and Bohr's complementary relation for quantum systems other than ordinary matter and light. In particular I will provide novel insights into quantum theory by studying systems at different energy scales.
Assessment and permitted materials
This course will also be attended by foreign students from Europa. It will be blocked: Friday 9-10:30;11-12:30; 13:30-15:00; Saturday 9-10:30;11-12:30; 13:30-15:00; Sunday 9-10:30, 11-11:45. There will be given simple exercises during the lectures, their solutions have to be worked out (can be sent later per email) and two questions have to be answered (on Sunday).
