Aims, contents and method of the course
Exercises based on the topics discussed in the VO. The course is based on active participation of all the students in the class. Students can volunteer to present an exercise on the blackboard, and the rest of the class can ask questions, participate in discussion about correctness, alternative approaches, etc. Dynamic participation from all students is crucial.
Assessment and permitted materials
Every week a task sheet with exercises will be uploaded on Moodle. Students have to individually work on the exercises and upload their answers in a single .pdf file on Moodle page by 10:00 am on the day of the class, at the latest. During the class any student can volunteer to present their solution, and based on the effectiveness of communicating the solution, points are gained as described in the following.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The assessment for this course is based on the following three factors:-Uploaded answers to the worked tasks from the weekly task sheets (5 points),
-Effective communication and presentation of exercises on the blackboard (5 points), and
-Results of a written test at the end of the semester (10 points). If fewer than 60% of the tasks are uploaded, the course is considered failed. Otherwise, points are awarded as follows:60-68% uploaded: 1 point
69-76% uploaded: 2 points
77-84% uploaded: 3 points
85-92% uploaded: 4 points
93-100% uploaded: 5 pointsPresenting a task during the class can earn between 0 and 5 points, depending on the clarity of presentation methodology and the explanation of steps followed. More than one student can present the same exercise if a different approach has been used and time allows.A written test towards the end of the course can bring 0-10 points.
Overall, the course is considered failed if less than 10 points are collected. The final grade is determined using the following scheme:0-9 points: 5 ("Unsatisfactory")
10-11 points: 4 ("Sufficient")
12-14 points: 3 ("Satisfactory")
15-17 points: 2 ("Good")
18-20 points: 1 ("Excellent")
