Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

1 Semesterstunde (1 credit): Seminar
F116: Pflicht-Lehrveranstaltung (1. Semester)
LA-Ch116: Pflicht-Lehrveranstaltung (1. Studienabschnitt)

Assessment and permitted materials

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The students' understanding of the fundamental concepts of general chemistry is trained by solving a set of exercises. The selected tasks are grouped into six units covering basic problems in General Chemistry:

a) Nomenclature and balancing of chemical equations.
b) Concentration and stoichiometry.
c) Solubility of salts and behaviour of gases.
d) Redox-reactions and complexes.
e) Acids and bases, pH-values.
f) Chemical Equilibria and some aspects of Qualitative Analysis.

Each unit consists of a teaching part in which the methods to solve the problems is illustrated followed by short examination of the students' skills to solve the problems
