Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The lecture units give an extensive overview of the various automation methods for the chemical laboratory. Among them are microtiter plates, micro fluidics, continuous flow chemistry, lab on a chip, automated organic synthesis, specialized reaction ware, robotics as well as self-driving labs. The advantages and disadvantages of these techniques will be discussed. In the accompanying practical unit on of the techniques will be tried out. Basic concepts of mathematical optimization that are important for automation will be touched.
Assessment and permitted materials
The acquired knowledge of the lecture part will be tested in a multiple choice test. A computer assignment as well as a short protocol of the practical work will be used to evaluate the exercise part of the course. A final grade will be determined from these three performances.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
At least 50% of the possible points in the multiple choice test, as well as a positive evaluation of the computer task and protocol.
Examination topics
Content of all lecture materials provided on Moodle.
Reading list
Supporting literature will be announced at the beginning of the course.
