Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The entire course will be carried out online.

Goal:
The students will learn to independently work on analytical-chemical questions, from experimental design to report writing.

Content:
The course is divided into a brief theoretical part where the necessary knowledge is conveyed, and a practical part aimed at deepening analytical skills and gaining hands-on experience.

• Presentation of a problem related to current research topics in analytical chemistry
• Research, preparation, and presentation of possible solutions
• Execution of the analyses
• Data evaluation
• Report writing

Method:
The course content will be covered through lectures, practical exercises, presentations, discussions, and oral presentations.

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment criteria:
• Mandatory attendance, practical work (continuous assessment course)
• In-time submission of the lab reports

To ensure good scientific practice, the students may be invited to a grade-relevant final discussion, which must be successfully completed.

Permitted aids:
• Practical part: Laptop/Tablet/Smartphone, calculator, periodic table
• Final discussion: Calculator, periodic table

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Minimum requirements:
• Attendance at the first meeting is mandatory.
• The attendance in the practical part must be 80%.
• Each partial performance must be completed by the end of the course.

• Participation
• Quality of the practical work, including responsible handling of samples, instruments, and resources.
• Quality of the data analysis
• Quality of the presentations
• Quality of the reports
