Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
An overview of current developments in the field of mass spectrometry-based analytics is given. In the context of bioanalytical problems, new technologies in mass spectrometry (ionisation methods, analyzers) as well as associated sample preparation and separation approaches are presented. Based on examples coming from the fields of proteomics, metabolomics, and analytical/forensic toxicology, strategies for identification of compounds and ways to elucidate their functions in complex biological networks are discussed.
Assessment and permitted materials
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Basic concepts and advanced applications of modern mass spectrometry in combination with chromatography and sample preparation; use for solving problems coming from the fields of proteomics, metabolomics, and analytical/forensic toxicology ; presentation of current developments in instrumentation and methodology
