Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Guidance to calculative solution of chemical tasks. The selected topics are grouped into 6 units emphasizing typical problems of General Chemistry:
a) nomenclature and formulation of chemical equations
b) concentration and stoichiometry
c) solubility of salts and behavior of gases
d) redox reactions and complexes
e) acids and bases, pH-values
f) chemical equilibrium and aspects of qualitative analysis

Assessment and permitted materials

The final assessment is a combined evaluation of the students¿ oral presentation and the written intermediate tests.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Introduction into the solution of chemical problems.

Examination topics

Each unit comprises an instruction part, in which methods of solution are demonstrated, and an examination in which students prove their ability to solve the problems.
