The lab will be carried out remotely via Moodle / Jupyter Hub Server of the University of Vienna. The planned working time is Nov 25, 2024 - Jan 9, 2025. You should hand in all protocols no later than Jan 16, 2025. How/when you work on the exercises is left to you.

From Nov 25 - Jan 9 I'll hold regular office hours (Waehringer Str. 17, ground floor). These are intended for questions/problems that cannot be resolved via e-mail.

The course illustrates topics presented in the accompanying lecture (Vorlesung), so attending the lecture course (Vorlesung) is advised.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Students know how to use molecular graphics programs to visualize information about a protein and to
explore differences in related structures. Basic concepts
of molecular mechanics calculations are used to complement structure based techniques.

Assessment and permitted materials

Grading: Continuous evaluation of participation in the course, combined with evaluation of the exercises handed in.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Despite or rather because of the absence of fixed work hours, demonstration of regular work is essential.

Protocols for the various tasks have to be handed in (via Moodle):
1) Begin of the Christmas break -- protocols of the computer graphics exercises [40%], introductory CHARMM example [10%]
2) Mid-January: protocols for the various illustrative examples using CHARMM (MD, MC..) [5 * 10%]

Examination topics

N/A (Practical work at the computer)
