Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
continous assessment of course work, accompanying proseminar to “Advanced laboratory course in Organic Chemistry”; mandatory course, Bachelor’s program in ChemistryAim: Broadening the participant’s knowledge on the mechanistic basics of organic chemistry. Held in parallel to the practical course “Advanced Laboratory Course in Organic Chemistry”. This proseminar’s aim is to deepen the participant’s knowledge in organic chemistry and its mechanistic backgrounds. Based on the content of the lecture “Organische Chemie I” the general reactions types (nucleophilic and electrophilic substitution, addition, elimination and rearrangements) are discussed. Different behavior of functional groups and substructures is discussed from the mechanistic point of view and examples are shown for the discussed reactions.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Minimum criteria to register for the course: The lectures “Organische Chemie I” and “Chemisches Grundpraktikum II” as well as parallel registration for the “Advanced Laboratory Course in Organic Chemistry” are mandatory as well as attending the corresponding preliminary discussion in case of the first registration for both courses. It would be desirable to see the registered students in the preliminary discussion for the Advanced Laboratory Course in Organic Chemistry also if they this is not their first time in this course.Grading key for the course:
