Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In this seminar, recent scientific articles about functional molecules, especially such with biological activity will be discussed. Content of the selected articles are structures, characterization, activities of functional molecules as well as methods for their preparation and potential applications. The participants propose these articles along with the scientific background in this seminar.
Assessment and permitted materials
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
It is the goal to educate students how to critically read scientific literature. Also the culture of scientific discussions should be fostered.
Examination topics
This seminar will be organized and given by the participating students. The students select the scientific articles which should have some reasonable scientific impact and propose contents, goals and methods as well as results in a short powerpoint presentation. Subsequently, all participants discuss critically the strengths, weaknesses, adequacy of methods and the scientific impact of the article.
