Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Learning goal: Progress in planning and performing of a scientific talk. Discussion of recent advances in the field of organic chemistry as extracted from primary and secondary literature.

Compulsory Course of the optional module group Organic chemistry (Master in Chemistry), which can be assigned to modules OC-1, OC-2, OC-3, OC-4, or OC-5.
In the course of this seminar each student has to present a seminar talk (20 min) about a topic based on recent organic-chemical literature which thereafter will be discussed (10 min).

Within this seminar course, the results of the students' research projects of the "advanced laboratory courses of organic chemistry" will also be presented. It is not necessary to register for this course, if only such a presentation is planned.

Language: predominantly English

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment (IP): seminar talk and regular participation, discussions

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

at least 80% participation, successful talk about the chosen topic
scale of marks: 1 to 5
