Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

By means of analysis of published total syntheses and synthetic strategies from the literature, this course has the goal of consolidating the understanding of complex syntheses and reaction sequences, as well as mechanisms.
Using selected examples, which will be worked on individually and in groups, solutions to synthetic problems of varying difficulty will be developed and discussed. The course will focus both on learning new organic transformations and fortifying the knowledge of basic organic chemistry.
Requirements: see curriculum
Language: English, German optional

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment: Active participation; written intermediate exam; written final exam

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Minimum 80% attendance; participation in both exams
Scale: 1 to 5

Examination topics

Content of the course and, exceeding that, the basics of organic chemistry (see Bachelor’s studies)
