Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Module objectives: Students know the relationship between form and function. They are able to recognise and interpret causalities between the essential bauplans of organisms and their functions. Students know the mechanisms and patterns of evolutionary and adaptive processes that influence form and function.

Assessment and permitted materials

Three written tests after each thematic block:
1) Paleobotany: to be announced during the course (max. 40 points)
2) Invertebrata: to be announced during the course (max. 40 points)
3) Vertebrata: to be announced during the course (max. 40 points)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students have to successfully complete three subtests according to a points system (40 points each). Dates see above (contents).
The course is completed positively if each of the subtests is passed with at least 21 points. Grading is then proportional to the total points of the three subtests (at least 62 points).
Unsubstantiated absence for a subtest will be graded with 0 points each. Only in justified exceptional cases can a separate substitute date be agreed for a missed subtest.
Attendance is compulsory and unconditionally on the first day of the course. Persons who have registered, but who are absent without good reason on the first day of the course will be excluded from the course.

Examination topics

Examination material covers the topics presented in the lectures and exercises.
