Aims, contents and method of the course

electron beam. They know about the construction and the functionalities of an electron probe micro analyser. The students can formulate analytical tasks independently and can develop an analytical protocol that is suited for accomplishing the task. The portfolio of methodological competence acquired during the course includes qualitative elemental analysis, imaging using electron- and X-ray signals and quantitative elemental analysis using reference materials.

Assessment and permitted materials

A customized user-manual produced individually by each student covering the entire method portfolio addressed during the course is marked, and the competence in practical elemental analysis is tested.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The participants must be able to demonstrate all methods that were addressed in the course and to accomplish analytical tasks independently.

Attendance during the course hours is compulsory. At least 85% attendance must be documented for passing the course.
