Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Overview of the solar system and its formation, history of planetary astronomy, movements of planets and moons, geology of all planetary objects in the solar system, as well as asteroids, comets, meteorites etc., impact processes in the solar system.
Excursion to the Ries crater (Germany).

Assessment and permitted materials

Oral or written exam, plus either participation in a field trip (Ries crater in southern Germany) or preparation of an essay on a relevant topic.
Field trip in July if enough participants register.

Examination topics

Exam (written or oral) on the content of the lecture class (at the end of the semester, dates can be arranged), plus participation in excursion or preparation of an essay

There is not one particular text; some suggestions will be given in the class.
