Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course includes variable topics related to petroleum geology:
1. hydrocarbons and their origin,
2. depositional environments and formation/preservation potential of gas and oil, source rock
3. sediments as reservoir and cap rocks
4. sequence stratigraphy and core logging
5. basics of seismic interpretation, type of seismic data, aquisition and processing
6. basic salt tectonics
7. drilling
8. basic well log analysis for geologist
9. hydrocarbon traps

The week course in February includes seismic interpretation and basin analysis excercises using a paper copies and Petrel software.
The entire course is given in English language.

Assessment and permitted materials

Exam on 14.2.2025 will include:
1) Written exam including the material from lectures
2) Seismic line interpretation

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Beide Teile (siehe Art der Leistungskontrolle) müssen positive beurteilt werden.
